all the boys keep looking down down down
This one is a flag. A proclamation.
I hated my legs as a kid. Big calves, a long line of athletes behind me, and every coach wanting me on the team when all I wanted was art. It took years to grow into this body and be proud of it, and to notice the boys looking.
The title comes from a 1920s song, from the moment skirts got shorter and the men kept looking down. Fashion turned. So did I.
I look at it now and I see a map. I see growth.
