JACKSON PARK - OBAMA
I'm so glad Chicago finally got its freaky girl shoe of a building.
I was so sad when we lost the Lucas Museum, because it was such a beautiful, odd, futuristic shape. With this building, we finally got one, and it's just gorgeous.
The Obama Presidential Center opened on Juneteenth 2026, right in Jackson Park, on the same ground Olmsted laid out in 1871 and the World's Fair filled in 1893. The top of the tower is cut through with words from the Selma speech: We the People, Yes We Can. I'm glad the South Side has this jewel shining like a beacon. More people need to come to the South Side. It has such a beautiful, rich history and culture, and right now it's in its next Renaissance.
