About this work

The Dala horse is Sweden's oldest souvenir: carved from pine offcuts in the forests of Dalarna, painted, and handed to children since the 1600s. The classic one is red. This one is blue and yellow, the colours of the Swedish flag, with a flag for a bridle and the traditional kurbits flowers blooming across its flank.

Andersonville has been Chicago's Swedish neighbourhood since the 1850s, when the first families settled the far north end of Clark Street. The Swedish American Museum keeps a Dala horse on the sidewalk there, and every June the street runs blue and yellow for Midsommarfest.

All prints are presented on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Giclée paper. Frames are solid wood from sustainable sources, manufactured to high standards.
